    Based on the examples Brown provides, what trends do you notice about wall-builders around the world? Provide some examples. Why is wall-building deemed necessary?

    Strong responses should note (and refer to the text) that wealthier countries/people build walls to keep poorer people out. For example, the border wall between the US and Mexico is meant to keep Mexicans out of the US, as the US is a wealthier country than Mexico. The same is true for Saudi Arabia building a wall next to Yemen. On a smaller scale, people build gated communities for wealthier people to prevent poorer people from living there or coming inside.
