Gabriele Kloterjahn/Eckhof
Gabriele Kloterjahn is wife of Anton Kloterjahn with whom she has a son Anton Kloterjahn Junior. She is ill of trachea and came to Einfried to heal. Herr Spinell immediately takes interest in her and we discover that she, the same as Herr Spinell, has an artistic soul that Herr Spinell tries to uncover from the clutches of common life.
Detlev Spinell
Detlev Spinell is an author that "steals time from God-Almighty" in Einfried. He is a strange man that spends most of him time writing letters that rarely get responded to. He wrote only one book which is strange because he loves to write. He believes that he himself is self-conscious of the world and people who live their lives adjusting to societal rules aren't. He falls in love with Frau Kloterjahn and believes that she could have been so much more if she hasn't fallen into the clutches of common life.
Anton Kloterjahn
Anton Kloterjahn is husband of Gabriele Kloterjahn. He is from the Baltic and his Baltic accent contributes to the roughness of his already rough character. He leads a business that is on the brink of falling apart. He is no stranger to flirting with women other than his wife. At the end when Gabriele's health is in danger, he shows and honest concern and fear which questions the way Herr Spinell portrayed him.
