Kira Navarez

Kira is the main character in the book. She is a xenobiologist and dreams of exploring the space. While surveying Adrasteia, an earth-sized moon, Kira makes a huge discovery that would later have an impact on her life. Kira is contented but her happiness is short-lived after she is thrown into a war that involves strange aliens. However, she is bold and courageous and nothing stands her way to achieve what she wants.

Carr

Carr is a doctor attending militaries injured in the war. When an explosion occurs, her damaged part is conjoined with that of Soft Blade and Wranui to form Maw. Maw wants to spread across the galaxy even though he is mad. Kira tries to kill Carr because she is part of Maw. She believes that by killing Carr and Wranui, she will incapacitate Soft Blade.

Soft Blade

Soft Blade vows to protect Kira Navarez from attackers. However, he is not used to protecting humans. For instance, while Kira was doing research with other researchers in their base, Soft Blade thinks they are attacking her. He stabs them despite Kira pleading with him not to injure them. Soft Blade's intention is to protect humanity from Wranui.

Maw

Maw is created after damaged parts of Carr, Soft Blade, and Wranui join. He is described as corrupt and greedy. Although he is injured, Maw wants to take over space. Finally, he settles on an unknown planet and starts forming corrupt soldiers. Kira uses its mass to form a space station that would function as an embassy.
