To Sir Phillip, With Love Background

To Sir Phillip, With Love is a historical romance novel written by Julia Quinn and is the fourth in her Bridgerton Series. The series follows the romantic journey of eight siblings and how they handle British society when it comes to marriage and love. It was published by Piatkus Books on 2 November 2006.

The book follows Eloise Bridgerton, a spinster who has given up at the chance of marrying. However, she begins in an exchange with the husband of a distant cousin who has died, out of sympathy, introduced as Sir Phillip Crane. Phillip is a struggling single father of two children who cannot provide nor care for his children after his wife’ suicide. As such, he offers for Eloise’s hand in marriage when she surprisingly turns up to his aid. However, the two have many obstacles to endure before they can be a happily married couple.

The series has been adapted into a Netflix series by Shonda Rhimes under the title Bridgerton and was released in December 2020. The show stars Chris Fulton as Sir Phillip Crane and Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton. The book was also praised by Romance Times, stating “'Quinn writes delightfully fast-paced, funny, sparkling and bright romance.”
