Verbal Irony: The American Dream

It is ironic that America is always propelled as the land of opportunity and freedom, yet this was not, and still is not, the case for African Americans. It seems that this concept is only exclusive to white people in America and does not extend to many people of color.

Dramatic irony: Enforcement Act

The Civil Rights Act of 1875 is praised even to this day for abolishing some forms of discrimination, and yet we know that this was not the case at all. Alternative laws, such as the Jim Crow laws, followed this and meant that slavery still continued to exist, but through other mediums.
