In the case of the myth of the Eternal Feminine, although real women are varied and diverse, where they are different from the Eternal Feminine, they are made to feel wrong or deficient. De Beauvoir says that this funnels women into attempting to to satisfy this myth in their person, which leaves them ultimately incapable of fully pursuing their professions, which are inherently at odds with their feminine ideal.
