    Objective:

    Students will analyze and discuss the conflicts between the novel's different characters.

    Structure:

    Begin the activity by asking students where they perceive tension and conflict between different characters. The most obvious tensions are between the Professor and Lillian over their marriage and children, between Kathleen and Rosamond over money, and between Scott and Louie over the legacy of Tom Outland.
