Man’s Displeasure in the New Age

In the story ‘The Delta Factor,’ the author narrates that man is not happy in the 20th century because he dislikes everything good. The narrator is seeking to discover why the man in the 20th century is unhappy with the right environment and prefers a lousy environment. The 20th century is characterized by modern technology and weaponry. Instead of a man enjoying the wealth and good things that result from technology, he is thinking of war and human destruction using the same technology, which should do better. The reader realizes that technology can bring progress, but it cannot build a harmonious society. The ultimate goal of humanity is to coexist peacefully regardless of the level of development. The author asks, "Why is it that scientists have a theory about everything under the sun but do not have a theory of man?" The answer to this question is evident because man has not prioritized peaceful coexistence but selfish self-interest.

Life Questions

Throughout the text, the author keeps on asking unanswerable questions regarding human conduct in the modern era. Unlike in the earlier centuries, when religion controlled man's behavior, contemporary society is egoistic and experimental to prove superiority against each other. The result is building a chaotic community that cannot live in harmony. In the modern man's mind, he thinks of war, hatred, and unhealthy rivalry against everything. The author fails to understand the difference between man and other creatures because they seem to reason better than man. Unlike the old religious ideologies that promoted peace and coexistence, the new ideas promote a radicalized society that is self-centered. After reading the book, the reader realizes that there are numerous life questions concerning modern society unanswered. Unless people relook and reexamine the meaning of life, the world will be wholly radicalized with destructive ideas, which will result in a chaotic society.

The End of the World

The author of this book predicts that the world's end is near unless man changes his ways. Contemporary society has embraced what is harmful rather than what is right. For instance, man is not happy with modern development, and he prefers to live in a bad environment. The contemporary setting is full of evils. For example, war looms every day because countries want to test the power of their weapons against others. The superpower countries wish to prove that they are better than others through threats. The answer thinks that if the current evils continue, the world will not go far. Selfish-interests would lead to war and other forms of hatred that will finish humanity. However, there is hope for a better future if people reexamine their ways and embrace humanity.
