Martha's escape from her father's compound is ironic because she does not expect to meet the most influential people in society, like Lenki. Martha's primary reason for her escape is to get freedom and stay away from her cult father. Ironically, Martha is surrounded by the few influential people who control the nation's affairs. In other words, Martha becomes powerful and influential because of her association with the most powerful people in society.
The irony of technology
The novel highlights how technology improves human lives in the future. Ironically, the majority of the characters in the novel are using technology negatively to score personal goals. For instance, Lenki uses technology to manipulate people using his media influence. Other characters are internet manipulators, while others use their technological knowledge to hack the internet. The negative use of technology is a crime because it contradicts its sole purpose, improving lives.
The irony of Zhen's decision to follow the software's directives unthinkingly
When Zhen discovers that the assassins are following her in the shopping mall in Singapore, she abruptly receives a remarkable software that pops up on her phone. The software tells Zhen how to escape. Zhen senses that the software is a trap, and someone has been watching her movements. Ironically, Zhen decides to follow the software's directives despite knowing she is heading to her death trap.
