Daphne Bridgerton
Daphne Bridgerton is the main protagonist of the novel. She is a young, witty and intelligent woman, but has trouble finding an acceptable suitor. She believes that the reason is that everyone sees her as a friend, but it might also be because of three elder, overly protective brothers.
Simon Basset
Simon Basset is a young rebellious man, who earns the title of Duke of Hastings after his father, the late duke, passes. He is reluctant to get involved into the scene of potential bachelors, he made a vow to himself to never marry, but everything changes after he meets Daphne.
Anthony Bridgerton
Anthony Bridgerton is Daphne's eldest brother, and the official head of the Bridgerton family. He is overprotective of Daphne because he knew Simon while the attended Oxford together, and is aware of his rakish ways, that make him believe that he is unsuitable for her.
Violet Bridgerton
Violet Bridgerton is the mother of the Bridgerton family, and the unofficial head who controls everything. She is witty and tempered, but has immense love for all her children.
