Chapter 44 - Particle Physics and Cosmology - Problems - Discussion Questions - Page 1519: Q4.1

Answer

It is possible.

Work Step by Step

It is possible, since antimatter is produced in the collision of high-energy charged particles. Such antimatter would behave chemically and spectroscopically the same as matter, so the light they emit would be the same. Photons are their own antiparticles, so it would not be possible to detect antiatoms by their light emissions. If we actually went there, once our matter contacted their antimatter, the two would annihilate, and that would be a problem.
