The gas temperature at the exit of turbine may be lower than the temperature at compressor exit at very high compression ration. Hence, if these two streams of fluid are brought into thermal contact during regeneration process, heat will flow to the exhaust gases instead of from the exhaust gases. As a consequence the thermal efficiency will reduced.
