Chapter 3 - Kinematics in Two Dimensions - Check Your Understanding - Page 66: 12

Ball A has the greater launch speed

Work Step by Step

If two balls have the same maximum height and different angles,it means that the ball with a greater angle with the horizontal, has a lower speed because if two balls have the same speed, the one with greater vertical component must have a greater maximum height. But since the one with higher angle has the same maximum, it must have a lower speed. Since the ball A has a greater range, the angle must be lower in this case, and therefore we can say that the ball A has a higher launch speed and B has a lower launch speed.
