Chapter 7 - Kinetic Energy and Work - Questions - Page 169: 1

Answer

All of the situations have the same kinetic energy value.

Work Step by Step

In this problem the mass is the same for all situations, so velocity is the only thing concerned with in calculating kinetic energy. The sign of the velocity values does not matter because kinetic energy is a scalar quantity. The net velocity of all the situations is the same, 5m/s. This means that the kinetic energy must be the same as well.
