Chapter 4 - Motion in Two and Three Dimensions - Questions - Page 83: 14b

Answer

The egg will land behind you.

Work Step by Step

When the egg is tossed, it is traveling at the speed that it was at when it was thrown. So if the car was traveling at 80mph, the egg will travel at that speed for the duration of the flight. The car, however, will be increasing in speed. So by the time the egg lands, the car would be traveling faster than 80mph. The car will be ahead of the egg, causing the egg to land behind your hands.
