Chapter 7 - Configurations - 7.1 Locating Stereocenters - Problems - Page 135: 7.11

Answer

The stereocenters are highlighted on the image:

Work Step by Step

1. Eliminate all carbons with double or triple bonds. 2. Eliminate all carbons that have more than 1 hydrogen. (They have less than 3 visible bonds.) 3. With the ones that weren't removed, check if they have 4 different groups connected to each one. If so, it is a stereocenter. ** If you have any trouble seeing if any group is equal to another one, then number the atoms on the groups, (start counting by the carbon you think is the stereocenter), and if any equal numbers have different atoms, then the groups are different.
