In this case, we have 2 groups with the same number of carbons in bifurcation, so there will be no difference which one you will pick. (The numbers doesn't change.) 2. Functional group: - Carboxylic acid: "oic acid" 3. Insaturations and number of carbons on the parent chain: - No insaturations : "an" - 5 carbons in the parent chain: "pent" 4. Substitutents: - 1 group with 3 carbons on the carbon number 2: "2-propyl" 5. Stereoisomerism: No stereoisomerism (No double bonds). 6. Put them all together: 2-propylpentanoic acid
