Chapter 1 - Introduction: Matter and Measurement - Exercises - Page 33: 1.6b

Answer

No formulas are needed for this problem.

Work Step by Step

This question builds upon Exercise 1.6a, with the targets. It asks what targets A and C need to do to become more like target B. Target A needs to improve its accuracy. Its precision is fine, as all the bullet holes are very close to each other. However, the holes are rather far from center. Likely, the instructor just needs to practice a bit with this new rifle, and accuracy will soon improve. Target C needs to improve both its accuracy and precision, the bullet holes are not near each other (precision) and they are far from center (accuracy). The student needs more gun training, to make their aim better.
