## Chemistry: A Molecular Approach (3rd Edition)

Diprotic acids are those acids which can donate 2 protons ( $H^+$) ions per molecule when they dissociate in an aqueous solution. Likewise, triprotic acids are those acids which can donate 3 protons ( $H^+$) ions per molecule when they dissociate in an aqueous solution.
Examples : Diprotic acid : $H_2SO_4$ Triprotic acid: $H_3PO_4$
