Answer

These data illustrate Law of Definite Proportions. Also Known as law of constant composition.

Work Step by Step

The data given is : 1) Sample A : $(1.60 g O \div2.43 g Mg )$ 2) Sample B : $(0.658 g O \div1.00 g Mg )$ 3) Sample C : $(2.29 g O \div3.48 g Mg )$ The mass ratio of Oxygen to the Magnesium for the samples are as: 1) Sample A : $(1.60 g O \div2.43 g Mg )$ = $0.658$ 2) Sample B : $(0.658 g O \div1.00 g Mg )$ = $0.658$ 3) Sample C : $(2.29 g O \div3.48 g Mg )$ = $0.658$ It's same for all the three samples. It is in accordance with the Law of Definite proportions which states that Different samples of any pure compound contain the same elements in the same proportions by mass regardless to the source and method of preparation.
