Disadvantages: Harder to see details because they move a lot. They dry out quickly. Hard to store for later use. Some organisms may be dangerous when alive. Heat-fixed slides Advantages: Organisms stop moving → easier to observe. Cells stick to the slide securely. Staining works better. Can be kept and studied later. Disadvantages: Heat kills and distorts cell shape. Cannot see natural movement. Some structures may be destroyed.
