African sleeping sickness is caused by Trypanosoma brucei gambiense and Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense. It is treated with pentamidine, suramin, and melarsoprol. It is transmitted by tsetse fly. It is the evasion of host defenses by constant altering of surface antigens. Chagas’ disease is caused by Trypanosoma cruzi. It is transmitted by defecating reduviid bugs. There is no known cure, and it is the evasion of host defenses by preventing activation of T cells.
