Answer
Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is a rare, degenerative, fatal brain disorder. It can be hereditary if the family has a history of CJD and tested positive for genetic mutation associated with the disease. Infectious prions through heredity arise when a mutation occurs in the gene for normal prion protein of a body. As the mutated prions replicates itself, it changes into infectious form. If the prion protein gene is altered in the sperm or egg cells of an individual, the mutation can be transmitted to his/her offspring.
