Answer

g. arctic tundra

Work Step by Step

The arctic tundra is the coldest of all the biomes. It surrounds earth's north pole and is characterized by a layer of permanently frozen subsoil called permafrost. Little rain falls on this biome. Only plants with shallow root systems that can adapt to cold temperatures can survive on the tundra; these include mosses, grasses, and small shrubs. This plant life thrives in windy conditions and are able to hold on tightly to the soil. Animals that live in this biome normally sport thick coats or layers of fat under their skins. Birds tend to be migratory, meaning they travel to and spend their winters in warmer southern regions. Other animals reduce their activity during the excessively cold times of the year through hibernation.
