Chapter 30 - 30.1 - Concept Check - Page 633: 3

Answer

If a seed could not enter dormancy it would germinate very quickly, meaning that it would not survive if it were to spend much time being transported and not able to wait until it reached favorable conditions. It would also have less resistance to whatever dry conditions it met and would only be able to be dispersed/travel for a short distance.

Work Step by Step

Review the role of dormancy in seed survival and dispersal. The seed would be greatly limited by a lack of dormancy.
