A protein is first synthesized by a ribosome on the rough ER. It is then modified and sent to the Golgi body from a vesicle. The Golgi body then further modifies the protein and sends it to the cell membrane via a vesicle. The vesicle then merges with the cell membrane as the contents of the vesicle spill out of the cell
