Chapter 10, Cell Growth and Division - Assessment - 10.2 The Process of Cell Division - Understand Key Concepts/Think Critically - Page 300: 17

Answer

In plant cells, there are no centrioles like there are in animal cells. Centrioles in animal cells are found in regions called the centrosomes; the mitotic spindles in plants originate directly from the centrosomes. Additionally, during cytokinesis in animal cells, the cell membrane pinches inward, forming two cells that look about the same. In cytokinesis in plant cells, a cell plate forms between the two nuclei. Cell membranes form from this cell plate. Between the new membranes is where the new cell wall forms.
