Answer

The five features of seed plants and where these fit in the pine life cycle: (1) Reduced male and female gametophytes are shown making the sperm and egg at the top of the figure, with the male gametophyte producing the sperm in microsporangia (2) and the female gametophyte making the egg in the ovule (3). These male and female spores look quite different (heterospory; 4), and fusion of the gametes leads to the seed itself (5).
