Answer

C. Wax is a hydrophobic material.

Work Step by Step

The meaning of hydrophobic is inside of the word. Phobia means a fear or aversion, and hydro means water. Wax is hydrophobic because it resists water. If you drop water on wax paper the water will roll right off. Waxes lack affinity for water because they are made up of nonpolar carbon chains and water is a polar molecule, therefore they can't combine.
