Vascular resistance is enabled by vasoconstriction. Vasoconstriction is regulated by constricting blood vessels through smooth muscle tone in tunica media. Since arteries have higher proportion of smooth muscle in tunica media than veins it have higher contribution for regulating vascular resistance.
