Chapter 11 - The Cardiovascular System - Review Questions - Page 422: 43

Answer

The cross-sectional area of a blood vessel and velocity of blood have an inverse relation i.e. if the cross section area of blood vessel increases then the velocity of blood decrease and vice versa.

Work Step by Step

Since the volume of blood flowing in vessels always remain constant we can say that if the cross section area increases then the speed have to decrease to maintain same volume flow everywhere.
