The path of bullet under given conditions will be along hypotenuse of a 45°–45°–90° triangle. In a 45°–45°–90° triangle, length of hypotenuse is $\sqrt 2$ times the length of shorter side, Hence- Distance traveled by the bullet = $1000 \times \sqrt 2$ Distance traveled by the bullet = $1000 \times 1.41421$ = 1414.21 feet Distance traveled by the bullet in nearest feet = 1414 feet
