Chapter 4 - Section 4.2 - The Natural Exponential Function - 4.2 Exercises - Page 341: 5

Answer

$f(-2) \approx0.2$ $f(-1) \approx0.55$ $f(-0.5) \approx0.91$ $f(0) \approx1.5$ $f(0.5) \approx2.47$ $f(1) \approx4.08$ $f(2) \approx11.08$ For the graph see the image below.

Work Step by Step

Using calculator we will simply calculate the $y$ value for the $x$ values provided (Suggested to use scientific calculator). Then point each of these points on the coordinate grid and sketch a graph according to these points. For a better visualization I will sketch the graph using Graphing Calculator. (See the image above) $f(x) = 1.5e^x$ $f(-2) = 1.5e^{-2}\approx0.2$ $f(-1) = 1.5e^{-1}\approx0.55$ $f(-0.5) = 1.5e^{-0.5}\approx0.91$ $f(0) = 1.5e^{0}\approx1.5$ $f(0.5) = 1.5e^{0.5}\approx2.47$ $f(1) = 1.5e^{1}\approx4.08$ $f(2) = 1.5e^{2}\approx11.08$
