Chapter 4 - Section 4.4 - Adding and Subtracting Like Fractions, Least Common Denominator, and Equivalent Fractions - Exercise Set - Page 265: 98

Answer

To write a fraction as an equivalent fraction with a given denominator, mulitply both the denominator and numerator by the same number so that the denominator equals the given denominator.

Work Step by Step

For example: To write $\frac{2}{3}$ with the denominator $\frac{x}{60}$, multiply both the numerator and the denominator by 20. $\frac{2\times20}{3\times20} = \frac{40}{60}$ To figure out what number to times the denominator by, divide the given denominator by the origional denominator (in this example, $60\div3=20$)
