Chapter 3 - Logic - 3.1 Statements, Negations, and Quantified Statements - Exercise Set 3.1 - Page 121: 68

Answer

Any given English statement can be either true or false. To negate the statement, first we have to find out whether the statement is true or false. If it is true then the negation statement should be such that it is false, and if it is false then the negation statement should be such that it becomes true.

Work Step by Step

Example : Barack Obama is the first Hispanic President of the US. We know, that above statement is true, so the negation statement should be false, that is, " Barack Obama is not the first Hispanic President of the US."
