Chapter 7 - Measurement - 7.5 Metric - U.S. Measurement Conversions and Temperature - 7.5 Exercises - Page 516: 17

31.8 liter

Work Step by Step

Given the heavy-duty wash cycle in a dishwater uses 8.4 gal of water. To find liters does it use, to the nearest tenth We’re changing from a U.S. capacity unit to a metric capacity unit. In the “U.S. to Metric Units” side of the table, you see that 1 gallon = 3.79 liters. Two unit fractions can be written using that information.(1 gallon)/(3.79 liters) Or(3.79 liters)/(1 gallon). Multiply by the unit fraction that allows you to divide out gallon (that is, gallon is in the denominator). 8.4 gal * (3.79 liters)/(1 gallon) = 31.836 liter =31.8 liter
