Chapter 10 - Statistics - 10.2 Bar Graphs and Line Graphs - 10.2 Exercises - Page 722: 18

Answer

2013, 100,000 gal

Work Step by Step

In the double bar graph, we can see that in 2013 supreme unleaded surpass the super unleaded. Supreme unleaded in the right rises to 700 Multiply 700 by 1000 because the label on the left side of the graph says in thousands. So 700,000 gal of gasoline occur in 2013. Super unleaded in the left rises to 600 Multiply 600 by 1000 because the label on the left side of the graph says in thousands. So 600,000 gal of gasoline occur in 2013. To find the sales of supreme unleaded gasoline surpass the sales of super unleaded gasoline we need to subtract super unleaded gasoline from supreme unleaded = 700,000 gal - 600,000 gal = 100,000 gal
