Chapter 6 - Section 6.2 - More Angle Measures in the Circle - Exercises - Page 299: 43

Answer

We know that if a triangle is inscribed, the angle that is opposite the longest side is inscribed as well. Since the diameter corresponds to an arc of 180 degrees, this means that the angle opposite the longest side corresponds to the 180 degree arc. Since all inscribed angles have measures equal to half of the measure of their corresponding arc, this means that the angle opposite the diameter is a right angle. Therefore, the triangle is a right triangle.
