Answer

rectangle

Work Step by Step

Lets take M(0,0) N(a,0) Using distance formula MN = $\sqrt (a-0)^{2} + (0-0)^{2}$ = $\sqrt a^{2}$ = a units Similarly, QP = $\sqrt (a-0)^{2} + (b-b)^{2}$ = $\sqrt a^{2}$ = a units MQ = $\sqrt (0-0)^{2} + (b-0)^{2}$ = $\sqrt b^{2}$ = b units PN = $\sqrt (a-a)^{2} + (b-0)^{2}$ = $\sqrt b^{2}$ = b units In quadrilateral MNPQ, opposite sides are equal MN =QP and MQ=PN therefore MNPQ is a rectangle.
