Given MNPQ is a rhombus. We need to find the area of the rhombus. Draw an altitude from Q on base MN at O. We know in Rhombus the opposite sides are parallel to each other so it acts as a parallelogram. Using theorem 8.1.2 the area A of a parallelogram with a base of length b and corresponding altitude of length h is given by A=bh therefore the area of rhombus = MN * QO A = base * altitude.
