Write out the inequality $5(y-2)+1\leq7y+8$ Essentially when solving an inequality it is the same as an equation. The one exception to this would be when you multiply or divide by a negative number you must reverse the inequality (however this doesn't apply to this problem) Distribute the 5 on the left side of the inequality $5y-10+1\leq7y+8$ Simplify $5y-9\leq7y+8$ Combine like terms $-17\leq2y$ Isolate y $y\geq\frac{-17}{2}$
