Chapter 1 - Section 1.2 - Fractions in Algebra - Exercise Set - Page 31: 131

Answer

Please see "step-by-step" section.

Work Step by Step

A mixed number contains a sum of a number of units and a fraction. To convert to an improper fraction , the denominator will be the denominator given in the mixed number. For the numerator, we multiply the (number of units) with the denominator of the fraction and add the numerator. Example: $3\displaystyle \frac{4}{7}=\frac{3\times 7+4}{7}=\frac{25}{7}$
