Chapter 5 - Systems of Equations and Inequalities - Exercise Set 5.5 - Page 573: 88

Answer

please see step-by-step

Work Step by Step

A linear inequality in two variables can be written in the form $Ax+By > C, \qquad e.g.\quad 2x + y > 1$ $Ax+By \geq C, \qquad e.g.\quad 2x + y \geq 1$ $Ax+By < C,\qquad e.g.\quad 2x + y < 1$ or $Ax+By \leq C\qquad e.g.\quad 2x + y \leq 1$ Given an ordered pair, we substitute the values of x and y into the linear inequality and simplify. If the inequality (after the substitution) stands true, the ordered pair belongs to the solution set.
