Chapter 5 - Systems of Equations and Inequalities - Concept and Vocabulary Check - Page 571: 7

Answer

Fill the blank with $(0,0)$

Work Step by Step

See Example 4. The circle with equation $x^{2}+y^{2}=5^{2}$ has center at (0,0) and radius =5. The example suggests that we test the center (0,0) to see whether the region to shade is inside the circle or not. We fill the blank with (0,0) Note: Actually, we can select ANY (x,y) point that is NOT on the circle itself. (1,1), (1,0), (10,10), etc That point is either inside or outside the circle. If the inequality is valid for that point, we shade the region it belongs to. If not, we shade the other region. But, zeros are handy when testing, so (0,0) is a desirable test point. Fill the blank with $(0,0)$
