The equations $y=\log_{b}x\quad$ and $\quad b^{y}=x$ (the first is in logarithmic, the second in exponential form) are equivalent, according to the definition of the logarithmic function. The relationship: The two forms are different ways to express the same thing. In logarithmic form, y is a logarithm, while in the exponential form, y is an exponent, with same base.
