Chapter R - Section R.1 - Real Numbers - R.1 Assess Your Understanding - Page 15: 2

Answer

31

Work Step by Step

To evaluate 4+5x6-3 use PEMDAS (Parentheses or grouping symbols, Exponents, Multiplication and Division in the order they appear, Add and Subtract in the order they appear). There are no grouping symbols or exponents, so I start with multiplication and division. There is one multiplication sign so I start there. 5x6= 30 so 4+5x6-3 = 4+30-3. There is no more multiplication or division so I do the addition and subtraction in the order they appear. 4+30=34 Now I have 34-3 34-3=31.
