Skills Handbook - Percents and Percent Applications - Exercises - Page 972: 11

1 3/20= 1.15=115%

Work Step by Step

To find the percent of this mixed number, you must first convert it to a decimal. To get this, you first need to figure out what 3/20 is equal to. Then after that, you will put it after the decimal of 1 (i.e. 1._ ). So 3/20 is equal to .15, so once you get this you just put it behind the 1. So it will be 1.15. You have 1._ because you know the decimal is bigger than 1 because of the whole number in front of the fraction. After you get 1.15, then you just multiply by 100. To do this, you just move the decimal 2 places to the right. So you end up with 115%.
