Chapter 11 - Probability and Statistics - 11-3 Probability of Multiple Events - Lesson Check - Page 691: 8

Answer

Mutually exclusive events

Work Step by Step

A person picks one marble out of a jar: Event $1$: The marble is red Event $2$: The marble is blue Since there is just one marble picked, the marble picked cannot have multiple outcomes. So if a red marble is picked, a blue marble can't be, and vice versa. Therefore, these are mutually exclusive events.
