Chapter 8 - Polynomials and Factoring - 8-6 Factoring ax(squared) + bx + c - Lesson Check - Page 508: 7

Answer

when $a \ne 1$ you have to find factors of $ac$ whose sum is $b$ when $a = 1$ you have to find factors of $c$ whose sum is $b$

Work Step by Step

when $a = 1$ you multiply by c to look for factors but because every number multiplyed by 1 = that number, you just look for factors of $c$
