Chapter 5 - Linear Functions - 5-1 Rate of Change and Slope - Standardized Test Prep - Page 298: 59

Answer

The answer is C: (28,10), (22,2)

Work Step by Step

The problem gives us that the slope of a line is 4/3 and asks use to find the two points in which this line passes through. Now, in order for two points to be on that line they have to have the same slope of that line which is 4/3 in our case. When we use the slope formula to find the slope of the two points in answer C, we get 4/3. Slope Formula: $\frac{y1-y2}{x1-x2}$ Now our two points are: (28,10), (22,2) Lets plug these points into our slope equation to find the slope. $\frac{10-2}{28-22}$ Simplify: $\frac{8}{6}$ =$\frac{4}{3}$ This matches the slope of the line so these two points are on the line. The answer is C.
